Is it worth putting hundreds of dollars worth of pickups in a cheap guitar??

Yes, it actually is. First, does the guitar sound good unplugged?? Boutique handwound pickups will enhance that and it’ll sound so much better plugged in. Second, is it comfortable to play or do you like playing it?? If yes, then it’s definitely worth it. Third, an investment in pickups isn’t necessarily an investment in the guitar; if you ever decide to get rid of that guitar, definitely pull the Stonewall Pickups out and install them in the next guitar. Installing $300 worth of pickups in a guitar isn’t going to raise the value of that guitar by $300 so don’t sell the guitar with the Stonewall Pickups installed, you keep those.

Can you make this Alternate Dimension pickup with a metal (nickel/chrome/gold) cover??

Not right now. The Alternate Dimension pickups are intentionally made to the same size as traditional pickup covers to make the coils bigger. Because of this, they don’t fit in traditional pickup covers. In lieu of traditional pickup covers, I make tops out of pickguard material for different aesthetics. Everything is made in-house and I don’t have the equipment to make metal tops yet… but it’s something I think about often

Does Stonewall Pickups offer endorsements??

Kind of. I don’t give out free pickups to anyone. Stonewall Pickups is a small, one-man company; each pickup is handwound and handcrafted, one at a time. Larger pickup companies can send out free pickups to endorsed artists because their pickups are mass produced. Even Highly Suspect pays for their signature humbuckers.

What is your favorite pickup??

This changes regularly. I’m a big fan of P90s so I always have a guitar with my Slutty Wolf H90 set or my Alternate Dimension P90 set. I’m typically most excited about what I’m prototyping or what I just designed. Currently that’s the Alternate Dimension Wide Range Humbuckers for PAF routs wired with a five way switch.
